Marshmallow Day was THE BEST DAY EVER! We built 2D and 3D shapes using toothpicks and marshmallows. We also worked in teams of two to build marshmallow catapults! Marshmallows were flying all over our classroom. We even got to aim at Mrs. Dupuis. The pictures below show all of the FUN and learning that was going on...

Dear Families!
We made the cutest turkey books! The books are filled with the many things we are thankful for...things we love, appreciate, and hold special to our hearts. Many of us were thankful for family, nature, and our classmates. We want you to know that we are thankful for YOU...our parents!! The ones who cheer us on, give us hugs, and provide plenty of love. While writing our books, we learned that you need spaces between words so that people can read the sentences. We also practiced tapping out the sounds we hear in words which is an awesome strategy to help us spell. Because we are beginning spellers, the word "family" may look like this...fmile. Close spellings filled with the sounds we hear at our young age are incredible. We hope that we can read our books to you and warm your hearts. We are thankful for so many things! Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Families!
We had the most exciting week! Though the rain and wind totally messed up our trip to Ingaldsby Farm, we made the best of it! We went out to the Cole School "pumpkin patch" and each selected a pumpkin that we loved. The cider donuts and apple cider were a tasty treat. Mrs. Frost also created a video of the animals, crops, and sights around the farm that we enjoyed watching to learn more about plants and animals. Today, we had a Halloween parade! We sure did look good in our costumes! Our class ate yummy Munchkins, created cool black cats, and watched a vintage Mickey Mouse Halloween short film. A good time was had by all!!

Dear Families!
Did you know that a group of 3 and a group of 2 makes 5? Did you know that if you go around a tree, around a tree, that you can make a three? We have been learning all about numbers! We learned some catchy poems to help us remember the correct formation of each number. We are even getting good at making sure our numbers aren't backwards. We learned to subitize! This means that we can identify the number of things in a set quickly, simply by looking at them. One of our favorite math mat games has us practicing this skill, and boy are we getting good at it. Mrs. Dupuis also has the coolest subitizing videos (slow and fast versions!) We have learned to count from left to right and in an organized way, so we don't lose count. The class has noticed that smaller groups make up bigger groups. (2 and 1 makes 3, 2 and 2 makes 4, etc.) This will help us as we explore addition and subtraction in later units. All of our written math work is in our very thick math workbook. It will come home when we complete the book. To further practice all of the skills we are learning, we have a math mat filled with seven games that we have learned so far. Mrs. Dupuis has attached pictures of two of our favorites. We are loving math and are so proud of all we have accomplished!

We have been in kindergarten for only 18 days and Mrs. Dupuis thinks that we are totally rocking it! We are working together as a team...helping, listening, being kind, practicing, solving problems, and talking to each other to communicate. Our class is off to a wonderful start of learning and having fun at the same time. We are getting really good at following routines, connecting with one another, and being good classmates/citizens. You should be so very proud of us. At the end of the school day, we finish with PLAY. How does play benefit us you ask? Here are the many reasons play is so important for us...
*We make friends and build relationships.
*We problem solve.
*We talk to each other and communicate.
*We are creative.
*We have a choice in what we would like to do.
*We build our fine motor skills.
