You should know that Mrs. Dupuis is keeping us very busy. Practice is her favorite word. We do notice that when we practice, things get easier and we become more confident. We have been practicing the letter name-keyword-sound for the letters t, b, f, m, n, i, and u. We have also been practicing the correct way to write each of those lowercase letters. You are not going to believe this, but we even practiced spelling short words like "fit" and reading words that we can sound out like "bin." Learning how to read and write is so exciting, but it takes a lot of hard work and practice.
In Math, we have been practicing everything to do with identifying the numbers 1-10, counting, reading number words, and counting small groups up to 10. We even know little poems to help us write our numbers correctly. We are getting to be really good counters because we make a plan before we count and touch each object as we count. We can't wait for you to see our, The Very Hungry... books modeled after, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. They are counting books that we are creating and will read to other classes and Mrs. Mara. They are full with fun foods that we are eating and colorful, detailed illustrations.
Today, we read one of our favorite books, Creepy Carrots! We talked about the title, author, illustrator, characters, setting, problem, and solution. There was even a surprise ending! The best part...we created our own unique creepy carrots to freak everyone out at school. Check out the pictures of our creepy creations!
Love,
